Kalshi bills itself as ‘the first app for legal sports betting in all 50 states’ and believes it can offer that legal sports betting without following the sports-gambling laws of any of those 50 states.”
In a statement, Kalshi spokesperson Dani Lever said the platform is “an open, nationwide, financial exchange” that “cannot be regulated by 50 different regulators”, per CDC Gaming.
“Both the Third Circuit and the District of New Jersey side with Kalshi, because the CFTC’s exclusive jurisdiction prompt state law,” Lever said, adding that “nothing in New Jersey’s filing” changes that view.

That estimate arrives courtesy of Macquarie and is well ahead of the research firm’s previous estimate of $169 billion in 2026 taker volume.
Takers is a prediction market industry colloquialism for the market participants that swiftly fill buy and sell orders, thus removing liquidity from the marketplace. Conversely, makers are the market participants viewed as liquidity providers and professional or sharp money.

Rossi takes a somewhat different view, describing Peru as a mature betting market while pointing to mobile penetration and a growing generation of digital consumers as sources of further growth.
“In my opinion it’s a mature market,” Rossi states. “Because historically, I believe Peru was one of the first betting markets in all of Latin America. Although the regulation was not there, betting was quite tolerated in the past.
“Of course, the room to grow is going along with the increasing penetration of mobile. And of course, demographically wise, a quite important area, a generation that is looking into online entertainment always wants more and more.”
